Mission

The mission of the Little Light House is to glorify God by improving the quality of life for children with special needs, their families, and their communities. We accomplish this mission by providing tuition-free educational and therapeutic services to children with special needs ages birth to six. The Little Light House has been a part of Tulsa since October 3, 1972. What began with one teacher, five students, and five volunteers has grown into a nationally recognized developmental center for children with special needs with over 40 staff members serving 64 students alongside many volunteers.  The LLH does not charge tuition and receives money only from private sources, such as foundations and grants.  The LLH does not receive funding from government sources or the United Way.

Who We Serve

Children, from birth to the chronological age of six with physical and mental challenges causing a developmental delay in one or more areas of development are eligible for Little Light House services. Conditions which typically create these challenges are Down Syndrome, Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, Autism and sensory deprivations such as blindness.

The Little Light House does not and has never discriminated with regard to religion, race, color or creed.

How We Serve

Tulsa’s Little Light House is internationally recognized as providing some of the most highly individualized, special education and therapeutic early intervention services in the world. A trans-disciplinary team approach is maximized to ensure a comprehensive approach to assisting each child in reaching their maximum potential.

These services are carried out by highly credentialed teachers, therapists and specialists who represent decades of pediatric experience. Operating as a trans-disciplinary team, these professionals work together to design prescriptive programs for each and every child. Then, relying on a strong team of experienced associates and dedicated corps of volunteers to assist, these programs are carried out under their direction and supervision during regular class sessions which are held Monday through Thursday, 8:30 AM – 1:15 PM. These classes are in session twelve months out of the year with seasonal three week breaks.
