Therapy Minute: A Look at Assistive Technology

Assistive technology (AT) is any adaptation a child needs to be successful with an activity such as playing with a toy or communicating with a teacher.  AT can be as inexpensive as wrapping a pencil in play-dough to help with a child’s grip to as involved as an iPad with speech apps or an eye-gaze communication device like a MyTobii. Whatever kind of technology you use, the goal of Assistive technology is to help children transition from passive learning to active learning.

Watch as the Little Light House’s AT Coordinator, Megan, gives a quick look at Assistive Technology.
